Here is a little Cinco de Mayo round up, if you wanted some last minute holiday and/or party inspiration. In my opinion, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, you need some kind of taco, a good margarita, guacamole, perhaps some shots, and some bright minimal decorations like these paper flowers, a piñata, etc.. Guacamole is one of my many vices, and while I am not a stranger to a good corn chip, I am loving guac with toasted pita right now – you gotta try it! Happy Cinco de Mayo! XO
Better late than never, right? Wow, what a Friday it has been. Here are some snaps from last night’s Savannah Fashion Week Fashion Show. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for the entire event, but from what I saw, I loved. Cate Lyon (local seamstress) and Bleu Belle Boutique especially killed it! Cate’s watercolor print patterns were so dreamy and Bleu Belle Boutique featured many pieces from British brand Forever Unique. I loved how the long coral gown had a zipper to convert the piece to a short dress.
I am loving UK brands right now! Thanks to Bleu Belle, I now am on the hunt for Forever Unique pieces, and, after attending the rewardStyle conference, I am loving brands like Missguided, & ASOS for anything summery and fun! Hope you all have a great weekend! XX
This morning I am just getting back to Savannah (unfortunately missed my flight last night) after a long and productive weekend in Dallas for rewardStyle‘s “the conference”, which was held downtown at The Joule hotel. This was my second rewardStyle conference – see details from last year’s recap here. This year, I enjoyed seeing old blogger friends and making new ones, meeting with brands, listening to insightful seminars, and having lots and lots of margaritas and queso. On Friday, Ellen + I walked around the brand booths and then later had cocktails by the pool with Jessica of My Style Vita and Lauren of Sunday Beach (so nice to meet them both!). Later that night, kate spade ny hosted a party across the street from The Joule in the lawn that boasts the giant “Eye”. This was a super fun event. On Friday night, a big group of us went to R+D Kitchen in Highland Park, one of my long time Dallas favorites. Saturday was filled with speakers and seminars – and a fun lunch hosted on the rooftop terrace by Express. On Sunday, we all went to Southfork Ranch for brunch. This was a very unique Dallas experience filled with a tour of the ranch house, hay rides, corn hole, and bloody marys. Throughout the conference, I loved seeing old faces from last year including Allyson, Brighton, Chassity, Liz, Hallie, and Gaby, but I also was so excited to meet new ones: Blair, Grace, Caroline, Gia, Christine, and Shai, to name a few. I felt like I had talked to a few of these girls over social media for quite some time – and it is so nice to finally be able to connect a face and conversation along with those over-the-web interactions. Having so many talented and creative people in one place was so cool and was exactly what I was needing to get re-inspired. So, I am starting off the week uber inspired, hope you are too! xx
Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of going to see Danielle and Jodie Snyder, the sister dynamic duo behind jewelry brand DANNIJO, speak at SCADstyle alongside moderator Christene Barberich, editor-in-chief at Refinery29. I have been a long time fan of DANNIJO for quite some time. Back in 2011 I ordered my first bib necklace from Bergdorf’s, and was instantly addicted. In April 2012, I became even more obsessed with the brand when they did their second Mr. Dannijo collaboration with Man Repeller. I mean come on, have you seen how awesome the campaign was? The sister duo seem like the coolest people you will ever meet (I feel lame saying that?), but, it’s true. I love how their unique style and personal edge perpetuate through the brand.
The two talked about branding and building a brand – and I think they are the perfect pair to speak about this in the fashion industry. What really hit home to me was their talks about building a following, participating in collaborations, etc. I understood what they were saying because I am a part of their following and have been for a while – their instagram account is one of my favorites. If you aren’t following them, check them out here. The sisters talked about posting social media content that is relative to their brand and to their audience – which ultimately makes them so relatable (to me) compared to other brands. In my opinion, DANNIJO makes me feel like I am following a friend and not an advertiser, which I think is key and why they have such a great brand.
You may have seen my post here about my trip down to Sea Island for the Zang Toi Fashion Show. As promised, here are some recap photos of the event. A huge thank you to Cloister Collection and Evelyne Talman for reaching out to me to attend this fashion extravaganza benefiting The Coastal Symphony of Georgia. Evelyn Talman was the main host of the event and had a Zang Toi Trunk Show in the days following the preview. A little more about the two stores: Cloister Collection is located on St. Simons and boasts ready to wear designers such as Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Free People, Jack Rogers, Island Company, Hiho, Lisa Kerns Jewelry (a local jewelry designer) and many more. Evelyne Talman is known on the island as a go-to for evening and special occasion and cocktail attire. Evening designers include Kathy Hilton, Marchesa, Daymor, Mon Cheri, and Marissa Baratelli.
I cannot reiterate enough how fabulous the event was, and how breathtaking beautiful Toi’s pieces were. This was not my first Zang Toi fashion show (see here), so I didn’t really expect anything less than stunning. Many of the pieces debuted were from Toi’s Spring 2014 Collection – the theme of which was “Ballet Babe”. The show resembled an elegant ballet with hints of ruffles and tulle. The beauty was definitely in the little details – the tulle, the embellishments, and the floral elements, the pastel pinks and blues, etc.
I’m so happy Izzy & I could attend the event together, and it was so refreshing to get to visit Sea Island again. I was reminded of how Sea Island really is the perfect quick weekend getaway from Savannah – or really many places in the South. My mom, grandmother, Izzy, & I had an amazing dinner & cocktails after the show. I can’t wait to go back to visit. The photos above were my top favorites from the entire show, which one is your fav? Mine would have to be the 5th photo. Stunning back. Happy Wednesday! XO, Stefanie
I have been a little MIA in the past week – partially because I came back from being out of town very ill. A two-day stomach bug that made me capable of basically nothing, but I’m back. I didn’t want what I was doing last week to pass by too long without documenting. Last Thursday, I went down to The Cloister on Sea Island for the Zang Toi Fashion Show. The last time I attended a Zang Toi Fashion Show was here from the MBFW SS’13 Collection. And I must say, this show hosted at The Cloister was amazing – I felt like I was at MBFW! As always in Toi’s Collections, I love the sophistication and femininity of his pieces. I have more pictures from the runway show soon to come!
Also, while in St. Simon’s / Sea Island, I visited the Tibi Outlet. My entire look at the show was Tibi (top right). At the show, I wore this dress that I ordered from Tibi.com and these shoes. I also scored this dress and love the silhouette! Check back later for more pictures from this show! XX, Stefanie
I have been waiting so long to share these beautiful pictures of an engagement party that I threw for my best friend Amelia back in November. Caroline, Amelia’s sister, and I co-hosted this lovely event in which the theme was “Perfect Pairings” (for a the Perfect Pair, Amelia + Mike!). The event was held at Local 11 Ten, one of my favorite Savannah restaurants, and it was all things “paired” – mac & cheese, surf & turf, tomato & mozzarella, bacon & scallops, shrimp & grits, dark & stormys, cookies & milk – you name it! Not only was the food delicious, but the company was even more amazing and I’m so glad we could all get together to celebrate the lovely couple! Signature “her” cocktail Co-hostesses
Beautiful hostess gifts from Amelia Cookies + Milk party favors – so cute for the guests to take away!
Sorry I have been a little M-I-A this week. I had eye surgery last Friday, and honestly haven’t been able to stare at a bright computer screen for a few days! But, I am feeling much better now. My surgery was actually in Boston, so I got to recuperate for a few days after surgery and visit with one of my besties, Amelia of Colour-Bloc, and do a little shopping and sight seeing as I started to feel better. I loved being able to wear sweaters and long sleeves for a few days – it was soooo refreshing! Some of my highlights in Boston were: staying at the Fairmont Copley Plaza (the service was impeccable), visiting with Amelia for many lunch + dinner dates (love Flour Bakery!!), shopping at the Rag & Bone store + Club Monaco (both had so many great fall finds), Lobster Rolls from Met Back Bay, taking my grandmother on a trolley tour, visiting the new Warby Parker on Newbury (+ getting 2 new pairs of sunnies), and getting a blow out at Blo. Another great treat to my trip was a birthday present that Amelia gave me – the kate spade new york “things we love” coffee table book. This gift was very well thought because next Thursday, I am co-hosting the launch party of the new kate spade new york store in Savannah! See details for the event below and mark your calendars! I hope you can make it, and have a great weekend! xxx
