This past wedding season, I tried to get on board the fashion girl trend: the Self Portrait Azalea Dress. I thought this dress was a versatile purchase. This dress seemed like it had a lot going for it: it could be worn to black-tie or cocktail events, was neither short nor long, and was a solid color. Seemed like a no-brainer. I told myself to invest. However, upon it’s arrival via Amazon Prime, I could not justify keeping it. For the heavy price tag, the fit was less than flattering on me, and the heavy fabric seemed not ideal for South Georgia outdoor weddings. I contemplated having major alterations, but with my short waist and big bust, it seemed like it would never work. So I sent it back, although disappointed because I was in love with the idea of the dress.
Last weekend, I was strolling down Broughton Street and popped in to Club Monaco. Boom. Displayed on the mannequin was a Self Portrait look-a-like! I tried this on and this dress was everything the other wasn’t: light weight, a comfortable fit, and not overly expensive. In fact, it is even ON SALE right now. So for $209 versus $500, I think the Club Monaco version is a great find. At it’s sale price – you can get 2 colors for the price of 1 Self Portrait, and, there is still much of the summer remaining for it to be worn. What are your thoughts? Look for more or less? XOXO
So, after months and months, I am back on the blog today. My day job has been putting me a little at sorts with the blog. But, nonetheless, I am trying to get back to posting and curating about things I love and find exciting. After seeing these adorable Gray Malin iPhone cases this week, I knew I had to share them. I have been a long time lover of Gray Malin, if you have see my gallery wall here, and other works of his around my home. Now, I can’t wait to carry a little piece of his work around with me all the time! Shopbop is now carrying Gray Malin art + accessories – even shoes! I’m so obsessed with anything with flamingos at the moment – especially this Gray Malin piece + this inflatable flamingo from Shopbop. Don’t these items just scream summer? See iPhone 6 covers listed below:
Yesterday morning I woke up may earlier than usual for a Sunday, and realized it was the release date for Peter Pilotto x Target – so I thought I’d check it out. I wasn’t planning to be the first person in line for this collection – Tucker for Target & Missoni for Target seemed much more exciting for me. But, I definitely found some pieces I really liked, like this pencil skirt, and a fun pair of “play” sunnies. What do you think about the collection? See more below.
Not to start Monday off like a Debbie Downer, but I have to say I was not that blown away by the performances at the Grammys this year nor the overall style on the red carpet. However, out of all those who walked the red carpet, I thought these 5 ladies looked stunningly beautiful. My favorite dress had to be Taylor Swift’s. I thought this dress was so simple and elegant – a true classic. Miranda Lambert + Colbie Caillat looked regal in red. I myself have been thinking of investing in a red gown for Savannah’s Telfair Ball that is coming up at the end of February. What are your thoughts on red gowns? Who were your favorites from the Grammy’s Red Carpet? I would love to hear in a comment.
