Bar Cart Styling

society_social_bar_cart When I first heard about the debut of Society Social via Glitter Guide in 2011, I immediately knew I had to have The Madison Mixer bar cart in my next home. Not to mention my admiration for Society Social‘s inception story and the fact owner Roxy was raised in her families furniture factory (and also has a taste for all things feminine and sparkly). Well, when I moved in to my new home this past Spring – this bar cart was one of my first orders to fill the space. I am just getting a long to posting about this lovely piece, but I have also been styling it more recently (and have switched some things out thanks to my visit to Furbish Studio last week). What do you think?

A Trip to Furbish Studio

furbishstudio-entrance This week, my mom and I made an annual trip up to Durham, North Carolina. As we were crossing over I-95 towards Raleigh/Durham, it dawned on me that one of my favorite online home boutiques, Furbish Studio, is based in Raleigh. After a quick glance at Google Maps, I realized this was not out of our route at all and we HAD to stop. I am currently decorating a new place – so Furbish has been majorly on my radar as of late. Originally, I learned about Furbish Studio through the blogosphere (shocker) by means of reading owner Jamie’s blog, I SUWANNEE. At this year’s rewardStyle Conference, I actually met Jamie and her assistant briefly over drinks with Ellen. One glance at Jamie’s elephant bag charm, and I knew anything from her store would be equally as bright, fun, and intriguing. I mean come on, how amazing is the entrance + pink door? I was so glad to get to see all of their amazing products in person, and if you’re debating anything online, get it – because it is even better in person!

A bit of what I found:

{An abundance of Pinatas on Trays}

{Foo DogsStaffordshire Dogs, + Happiness Jars}

{+ more pinatas…and cute cocktail plates}

{Cozy Teepee with Cheetah Pillows}

My favorite thing about Furbish is all the framed artwork that you can get for an affordable price! After starting to design a gallery wall, I have learned how expensive framing is. I bought this framed Teil Duncan (Charleston artist) piece that is framed and signed for $80 total – I don’t think you can beat that! See my favorite Furbish artwork below:

I always have lots of recommendations to those who email in and ask what to do in Savannah, what to see, and what to eat. But, sometimes people just don’t have time to do everything. I have teamed up with the Virgin Atlantic Blog for travel tips in the Savannah area (see last post here) to give a guide of what to do in Savannah in 24 Hours. Please read the article here. From a trolley tour to lunch at Mrs. Wilkes’ and dinner at the Pink House, this is my Savannah-on-full-speed-travel-mode guide. I would love to know what you think! XO, Stefanie

Sunda Chicago

sunda-chicago Image via
Last weekend, I made a trip up to Chicago with my family and boyfriend for the Braves vs Cubs game. My father is a longtime Atlanta Braves fan, so with everyone’s schedules free, we knew we had to make the Braves at Wrigley a must this year. On top of the baseball game, this was a must anticipated trip for me because Chicago is one major US city that I had never visited before! While I was definitely excited for the game – my number one priority in any new city is usually trying delicious restaurants. One of my SMU friends (and a chi-city native) told me that her absolute favorite spot for Asian Fusion in Chicago was a restaurant called Sunda. Sold. Asian fusion is my favorite – and I knew this would resonate well my parents and BF as well. I scored a reservation and we headed almost straight to Sunda after getting in to town. With a great ambiance and oh-so-polite waiter, we order the Peared Sake and took nearly 15 minutes just to pick out appetizers. The menu at Sunda was seriously extensive – almost a little overwhelming (see here). But, we dove in to a culinary journey with some great beginning choices.
CrabCrustedAhi-Sunda {Crab Encrusted Ahi Sashimi}
Our appetizers to start included the Seared Crab Crusted Ahi Tuna Sashimi (featured in Marie Claire Magazine here), Sunda’s Yellowtail Jalapeno, Sunda Steamed Duck Buns, and Tempura Tiger Shrimp. Wow. The duck buns were my absolute favorite – I don’t think my boyfriend and I have stopped talking about them.

sunda-chicago-pork-belly noodles {Pancit Canton Noodles // Image via Dessert Spot}
For dinner we ordered the Pancit Canton noodles, Red Dragon Roll, Sunda Rainbow Roll, and a taste of the Unagi/Foie. After our appetizers, we were nearly stuffed and not sure how we could finish all this – but, we surprisingly ate every bite.
We were thoroughly impressed with not only the cuisine, but how helpful and friendly our waiter was. After visiting many Nobu Restaurants, Blue Ribbon Sushi restaurants, etc., across the country, I would definitely put Sunda as the best asian fusion I have ever eaten. So, if you are planning on being in the Chicago area, Sunda is a must stop!

XX, Stefanie
