The World Famous Breakfast Club, located at 1500 Butler Ave., Tybee Island, Georgia, is one of my favorite restaurants in the Savannah area. I have been coming here since I was a little girl, and am still just as giddy to get there before they close at 12:30pm every day. Come here in the heat of the summer, and there is bound to be a line stretching straight down the block. When people will wait 45 minutes in the blistering Georgia heat, that’s when you know you’ve found a gem. From breakfast classics like eggs benedict & omelettes, or specialty items like the Country Fried Steak Breakfast or Helen’s Solidarity, to the best burger you have ever tasted, the Breakfast Club has it ALL. This is one of my number one recommendations to those visiting Savannah for breakfast, lunch, or brunch, because it is off the beaten path, laid-back, and possesses the culinary talent of the best – after all, Jodee (the owner) did cater JFK Jr.’s wedding.

This past Saturday morning, I enjoyed a “Low Country Omelette.” This specialty dish includes the ingredients from a Savannah/Charleston tradition: low country boil. Wrapped in farm fresh eggs are the low country boil ingredients: shrimp, potatoes, and polish sausage, and a hefty amount of cheese of course. I should have cut in to the omelette so all could actually see the succulent ingredients, but I couldn’t wait that long! Their hashbrowns are always cooked perfectly.. need I say more?
My boyfriend enjoyed a classic grilled ham & cheese with hashbrowns and a slice of bacon above.
Like I said, the Breakfast Club is famous for their burgers, which I usually order after a long night at Tybee Times or Rock House. I noticed the chefs cooking 2 up and snapped this pic… delicious ground chuck cooked to your liking, served on their freshly baked Kaiser rolls with cheese of your choice… this burger can hang with the best of them and is sure to make your mouth water! Don’t forget to stop in if you are ever in the Savannah/Hilton Head area!
